Missive 8: The Challenge

Missive 8: 25 December 2018, Wednesday

Greetings from our family to yours and Welcome to another TrailMagick89 missive,

As we prepare for the next year and the adventure we are planning on taking, we have looked back over the past few months and we decided many things. The missives that we post each week, the number of times we post, the subject matter, our attitudes, and the level of fun are all going to change. And no this is not a New Year’s resolution.

We made a resolution about a decade ago, together, no more resolutions. And we have stuck with it.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Our challenge that we are undertaking is to go on two hikes this year the first being the Michigan Shore to Shore Trail. The trail is 220 miles. We will be following the trail from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan and we plan on going shortly after the weather breaks. The second trail we plan on tackling a section of is the North Country Trail which is currently 4600 miles in length and we are planning on taking on first section that runs through the Lower Peninsula and then if there is still time take to the section in the Upper Peninsula. Earlier it was mentioned that the current length is 4600 miles.

Well, over the next two years Congress has agreed to add 107 miles to the Eastern end and an additional 400 miles to the trail in Minnesota. With Minnesota that is interesting as the trail actually ends in North Dakota. We are planning on this year attempting to complete all 1150 miles of the Michigan section.

We appreciate that you stuck around until the end. If, you have found any value in this post, make sure to hit the “Like” button and “Subscribe” to TrailMagick89 blog. Greetings from our family to yours and Welcome to a TrailMagick89 missive, We write these missives to bring awareness for those that live on the streets, under bridges, in abandoned buildings. In most countries it is called “Living Rough”. We cover the subject of life as part of the homeless community; where in some places they are called everything from the derogatory “bum” to the more accepted name of “community people”. We have lived on the streets of the big city and small towns alike. We have encountered people from all walks of life. We have backpacked long distances and followed the trail just to see where it would take us with no destination in mind. After ten years of living on the streets we have found that stories of life of a vagabond and a tramp (modern day nomads) have lessons to share. Our preferred mode of transportation is on our Terratrike Rover Tandem that we have named Max. We talk About Us; from living on the streets around the Eastern part of America to living in yet another small town. We talk about the Bible; the beliefs of the community people. We talk about Community; regardless of where we have lived we have encountered many people that are all part of community life. We talk about Food; just because we have lived under a tarp it didn’t mean we ate terrible food. We talk about Gear (backpacking, cycling, & camping); the equipment we use usually isn’t high cost though it is of a decent quality. We talk about Health; we share the stories of not only of our health but how you can help other community people. We talk about Other topics when it comes to everyday life. We talk about about PVC projects; PVC is such a great medium for projects that can help around the home or campsite. And we talk about our dream of opening a Tiny Home community. We like to share our life with others in hopes that our adventures and misadventures bring a smile and a laugh to you, our readers. We thank you, that you, have taken time out of your day to share yourself with us. We appreciate that you stuck around until the end.
